He laughed, stood, stretched and told her he’d be right back. The hot water felt good as it melted away the tension of the night. It also reminded him how tired he was and how long the relatively short drive to Jada’s place was going to seem. He wondered how much arguing he’d have to do to get her to stay here tonight instead.

Finding her curled up asleep on the couch solved the problem. Fin covered her with a fleece blanket and left her there. Much as he wanted the comfort of his king-sized bed, he grabbed a blanket of his own and took the recliner. The vague unease that plagued him all day was still there. Staying close seemed like a good idea.

Sleeping seemed like an even better one. Within minutes, he was also down for the night. * * * *
